Further Features Announce 3D Releases

The success of Avatars 3D venture, which has seen James Cameron once again break worldwide box office records, seems to have encouraged other studios to take on the format as well.

This week Warner Bros. have confirmed speculation that they plan to release the final two Harry Potter films in both standard and 3D cinema experiences simultaneously.

Warner haven't stopped there however and are also planning a 3D releases for Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, 300 director Zack Snyder's Guardians of Ga'Hoole and Clash of the Titans, which is now scheduled for released on April 2nd, one week later than originally planned.

The expense to convert each film in to 3D will cost just $5 million and even with a further $5 million set aside to finance 3D glasses, given the financial achievements of Avatars 3D takings, the studio will be predicting a sizable profit margin on the venture.

There is however some concern over the 'Titans 3D release, given the number of screens internationally that can host the 3D format. But one executive commented, "I would not think it would be an issue to establish ourselves in the 3D marketplace with 'Titans. By sliding it back a week, we should at least have enough screens in the major markets."

Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution also commented, "We are confident in the constantly evolving 3D technology, and the results for Clash of the Titans will be presented onscreen with the highest quality images available today."

He continued, "Based on our track record, we know that audiences are embracing the RealD and IMAX experiences, and we see many opportunities on our on our film slate to provide moviegoers with these great options at the multiplex."

Warner's 3D horror film "The Final Destination", over performed internationally this summer and industry executives have taken note of how well 3D movies play overseas.

Paramount are also said to be in talks with Michael Bay and Industrial Light and Magic about a 3D release for Transformers 3 and Sony are also looking at a 3D possibility for Spiderman 4.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2 are scheduled for release on 19th November 2010 and the 15th July 2011 respectively.
