Films Get Funding Boost |
Sam Taylor-Woods debut feature Nowhere Boy and British gangster flick 44 Inch Chest are among a number of films to receive a funding boost from the UK Film Council.
Icon Film Distribution has received $246,124 (£150,000) to support the distribution of Nowhere Boy, which tells the story of a young John Lennon; while Momentum Pictures has been awarded $180,491 (£110,000) to boost publicity of Malcolm Venvilles 44 Inch Chest. The film stars Ray Winstone as a London gangster who kidnaps a friends wife to restore his damaged ego.
Meanwhile, the UKFC has also allocated $8,250 (£5,000) to help widen the distribution of a 17 titles including Alexis Do Santoss Unmade Beds, distributed by Soda Pictures, Arrow Film Distributors for Yoijiro Takitas Departures, Lu Chuans City Of Life And Death, distributed by High Fliers Films, and Kaleidoscope Home Entertainments micro-budget horror film, Colin.
